On The Issues

As an attorney, father, and advocate, Bob has and will continue to fight for a balanced state budget to support human services and quality education. He will protect the rights of immigrants, women, seniors, and the LGBTQ community and work to secure healthcare access for all.

An attorney at the law firm of Benesch Law, Bob previously worked for the State of Illinois where he served as the lead attorney for implementation of the Affordable Care Act and as director of the Illinois Medical Cannabis Program. Bob’s work on the ACA helped ensure over 650,000 Illinois residents were covered under ACA’s Medicaid expansion. The state’s medical cannabis program has already helped over 150,000 residents struggling with debilitating medical conditions like cancer and PTSD, and Bob continues to advocate for patients still waiting for access to the program.

Bob is a current Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League, on the Board of Trustees of Equip for Equality, and a member of Temple BJBE in Deerfield. Bob has been active in politics volunteering for the Tenth Congressional Democrats, serving as Jewish Outreach Director for both Pat Quinn and Hillary Clinton in Illinois, as well as for Barack Obama in Florida in 2008.

These past 4 years Bob has accumulated a strong record supporting and passing legislation that expands access to reproductive healthcare, securing investment in our public schools without raising taxes, providing support for local businesses throughout the pandemic, and reducing the cost of healthcare for Illinoisans. Bob remains committed to fighting for a state budget to support human services and public higher education, and protecting the rights of immigrants and the LGBTQ community.

Bob lives in Deerfield with his wife Sonya, their two young children, and their dog Teddy.

Every moment counts

With the crisis facing state government and national politics, Bob is committed to fighting for a state budget to support human services and public higher education, protecting the rights of immigrants, and securing healthcare access for all including a woman’s right to choose.
